How to Incorporate Hydrotherapy into a Busy Routine

Do you want to indulge in some ‘me’ time? If you feel like you don’t have a moment to do so, we have the solution. Hydrotherapy! The warm water immersion offered by hot tub use has many health benefits including a reduction in stress.

And slipping in some time each day might just be easier than you think. We get it, life is hectic and self-care can often fall by the wayside. So, if you’re looking for a way to relax and reduce stress on a hectic schedule, read on for some great tips on how you can make it happen with hot tub hydrotherapy.

1. Share Hydrotherapy with the Kids

If you’re a parent, you may not have a lot of time to call your own. You may also have concerns about bringing your children into the hot tub with you. As long as you follow a few safety guidelines, it’s safe to enjoy hydrotherapy with your kids.

Spas are safe for children ages 5-12. So long as the temperature is set no higher than 98°F. Kids who are too short to keep their heads above the water can still use the spa. Just make sure they sit on the spa’s bench or jump seat for partial immersion.

If you have a baby or a toddler, schedule your spa dip during nap time. Simply bring the baby monitor outside with you and relax while your little one slumbers.

2. Engage in Hot Tub Exercise

If you workout regularly, but have never tried aquatic fitness, you’re in for a treat. By exercising in your hot tub, you not only get in your fitness for the day, but get to experience all of the benefits of heated water and jet massage too.

You can do the aerobic part of your workout as usual and hit the hot tub for some yoga and stretching or you can get your heart rate up in the spa. Packing some high energy moves like jogging in place into your spa time will vastly reduce impact on your joints and give you the added benefit of water resistance, burning more calories.

Don’t have the temperature set as high if you’re doing high impact exercise. You can always turn it back up for the stretching portion of the workout.

3. End the Day With Relaxation

By the time the kids are in bed and the dishes are done, you might not feel like you have the energy to do much more than relax in front of the TV. But that is the perfect time to head to the hot tub. Spending 20 or 30 minutes in your spa will soothe your muscles and treat them to a relaxing massage.

Make sure you soak at least an hour before bed. This way, you won’t sleep while your body’s temperature is elevated. Giving yourself that extra hour or two to cool down will help your body gradually prepare for sleep. Giving you a better night’s rest.

4. Head to the Spa on Date Night

Why worry about making reservations, and driving when all you really want to do is relax together in your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub? That doesn’t mean that romance is out of the equation, though.

With a little bit of planning, you can make your night at home special. And your spa can play a key role. If you have kids at home, arrange for them to stay with grandparents or friends. Plan a simple yet elegant candlelit meal together and then head to the hot tub for some dessert. A tray of fresh berries, grapes and cheese paired with a chilled sparkling cider or grape juice is both refreshing and sweet. Be sure to have plenty of fluffy towels on hand and don’t forget to hit play on your romantic playlist.
